Senior Gujarat Congress leader Badruddin Sheikh succumbs to coronavirus infection

Ahmedabad: Badruddin Sheikh, AMC (Amdavad Municipal Corporation) municipal councilor, senior Gujarat Congress leader, former State party spokesperson and former Leader of opposition in AMC passed away due to Coronavirus infection today. He was under treatment at AMC run SVP (Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel) hospital since third week of April after detected Covdid19 positive. Sheikh was critical and on ventilator support for last over a week.
Born on 13 September 1952, Shaikh did his school graduation from Bhakt Vallabh Dhoda Vidya Vihar Ahmedabad. Then he did his graduation from H K Arts College, and post graduation from L.A. Shah Law College.
Sheikh was Leader of Opposition in AMC for a few years since 2010. He was x.Chairmen of Standing Committee (2000–2003). He was General Secretary- Gujarat Pradesh Youth Congress (1985 to 1990). He was Municipal Councillor since 1995.
He worked as member in Standing Committee, Town Planning Committee, Legal Committee and V. S. Hospital Menagement Board
He had also held positions of Vice President, Khawaja Saheb Dargah Committee – Ajmer Shrif (appointed by Minority Affairs Dept. Central Government), Senate Member, Gujarat University (1979–1980), Syndicate Member, Gujarat University (1990–1993), Chairmen, Minority Cell – G.P.C.C. (1992–1995), General Secretary, N.S.U.I.(Gujarat) (1984–1986), Presideat, Ahmedabad Muslim Graguate Association (since 2002), Member, Indian Delegation in 12th World Festival in Russia (1985), Member, Prime Minister Haj Delegation (2005) and President, Muslim Khuza Faros Jamat – Gujarat.
