Gandhinagar: Officer on Special Duty at Asarwa Civil hospital Dr. MM Prabhakar today while clarifying reports based on his letter said, ‘indigenous manufactured Dhaman-1 and high-end ventilators both are important. In initial phase, when the patient needs oxygen, Dhaman-1 is very useful. When patient is in critical condition, high-end ventilators are required. Dhaman-1 is being used at present at Civil hospital in Asarwa. A demonstration was organized by doctors including Anesthesia expert involved in Covid19 treatment. The Civil hospital has demanded high end ventilators that are useful for very critical patients. Rajkot manufactured Dhaman-1 is initial model ventilator. The doctors have suggested necessary improvements in Dhaman-1. Compressor, mixture, humidifier and calibration equipment will be clubbed to Dhaman-1 ventilator in next phase. Due to increase in the number of Covid19 patients in the State, an urgent requirement of ventilators was felt in the State. At such juncture, a private company in the state had made indigenous ventilator ready within ten days. We use these ventilators at Civil hospital and incorporate all the suggestions given by them while using these machines. In advance cases, patients require artificial respiratory ventilators. For that, there are more than 250 ventilators in Civil Hospital. These machines will be upgraded with the new suggestions. There is no defect in these machines and they have not failed. They function properly and very useful in saving the lives of Covid-19 patients.’
