Tractors might pull Raths instead of Khalas community youths this year
June 22, 2020
Ahmedabad: Tractors were seen pulling Rath in Jagannath Mandir campus today evening under supervision of minister of state for Home, Pradipsinh Jadeja. One tractor was also seen as part of police convoy in the course of Rath yatra route rehearsal in Saraspur area. Mahant of Jagannath Mandir, Shri Dilipdasji Maharaj confirmed that the mandir was ready to pull rath through tractors if permission for Rath Yatra to proceed outside the temple campus is granted by the High Court. Conventionally, Khalas community youths pull all three Raths with ropes through entire route. However in order to ensure social distancing and also to speed up the yatra, three Raths are likely to be pulled by tractors this year.
