ArcelorMittal to invest over Rs. 50,000 crore in Gujarat: Rupani

Gandhinagar: Gujarat’s Chief Minister (CM) Vijay Rupani yesterday announced that metals and mining tycoon Lakshmi Mittal led ArcelorMittal shall invest more than Rs 50,000 crore in the State.

Rupani said, “All industrialists from India and abroad, including Lakshmi Mittal, are coming to Gujarat for making investment as they count Gujarat as the best investment destination. Lakshmi Mittal came to meet me yesterday (6 March). He told me that he will make an investment of more than Rs 50,000 crore in Gujarat in the coming days.”

Mittal had also met with the State’s Deputy CM Nitin Patel. He is said to have talked to Rupani and Patel about his proposed contribution for making Gujarat an industrial leader. He during his visit to Gujarat also met with Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi who was in State’s Kevadia to attend the Combined Commanders’ Conference on Saturday (6 March). The world’s largest steel and mining company, ArcelorMittal already runs a steel manufacturing facility in Gujarat’s Hazira industrial complex near the city of Surat.

The State government has also invited him to the next Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit.
