Ahmedabad: City based Jagannath Mandir has been granted permission to hold annual Jal Yatra procession this year. Jal Yatra procession takes place ahead of annual Rath Yatra in the city. The trust that manages the temple had filed application for permission to Jal Yatra procession at the City Police Commissioner office.
Due to Covid-19 pandemic, only one elephant, five flags, 5 kalash and less than 50 persons are allowed to participate in Jal Yatra.
According to Trustee Mahendra Jha, there will be no akhara and bhajan mandli in the procession. Only 10-15 sadhus will participate in Jal Yatra, he said adding that if possible even a single elephant will not be taken.
Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel and Minister of State for Home Pradipsinh Jadeja are going to attend the Jal yatra function.
There’s still uncertainty regarding the permission to annual Rath Yatra (July 12) this year.
The Government has maintained a stand that the decision will be taken as per the situation of pandemic around the date of Rath Yatra. DeshGujarat
