Vehicles from border areas of Rajasthan get refueled in Gujarat as petrol and diesel cheaper here

Palanpur: As the price of petrol is cheaper by Rs. 11 per liter and that of diesel by Rs. 4 per liter in Gujarat, the people living in border areas of Rajasthan come to Gujarat to fill the tanks of their vehicles in increasing number. Petrol pumps in border areas of Rajasthan are facing huge slide of 30 to 70 per cent in their business as a result of this.
According to Kanubhai Panchal who ows a petrol pump, the trucks from Punjab, Delhi and Rajasthan sides fill in the tanks in Gujarat, as petrol is available for Rs. 93.68 per liter and diesel for R.s 94.98.
Amirgadh and Ambaji are especially two border towns in Gujarat where vehicles from Rajasthan come for refueling in big number.
Petrol price per liter in Rajasthan is Rs. 105.96 compared to Rs. 93.68 in Gujarat while diesel price in Rajasthan is Rs. 98.91 per liter against Rs. 94.98 in Gujarat.
The high price of fuel in Rajasthan is due to 36 per cent VAT on petrol and 26 per cent VAT n diesel. In addition to this Rajasthan also levies Rs. 1500 per kl road development collection.
Interstate relations in border areas are not new even otherwise. In recent past when covid vaccination in Rajasthan was halted for a few days, the border area people got vaccinated by visiting Gujarat. APMC in Unjha in North Gujarat regularly attracts large number of trucks carrying agri produce from Rajasthan as farmers get better price in Gujarat for their produce.
