NITI Aayog green signal to World Bank loan proposal of SMC for Tapi Riverfront

Surat: NITI Aayog has given green signal to a World Bank loan proposal of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) for the development of Tapi Riverfront.
Out of the project worth Rs 10,000 crores, the first phase will cost Rs 3,000 crores out of which a loan of 2,000 crores will be borrowed from the World Bank. SMC is working for the development of a riverfront on the bank of Tapi river along with purification of the river. The permission of the Central Water Commission (CWC) is pending for this loan.
As per the plan an area of around 33 kms will be developed on each bank of the river. Thus, a total 66 km area will be developed in Tapi Riverfront Project. Ghat and cultural streets will be developed on both banks of river Tapi under this project in the city. DeshGujarat
