Tapi Riverfront project updates

Surat: Economic Affairs Committee of the central government has given go-ahead to the Phase-1 of the development of Tapi Riverfront on both sides of river Tapi in a 10 kms area from Rundh to Singanpor causeway in Surat for World Bank loan.
The estimated cost of the first phase will be Rs 1991 crores and 10 kms area on both sides of Tapi river will be developed in Phase 1. A Multipurpose Barrage of 13 metre height will be constructed between Rundh and Bhatha. The modified model of the multipurpose barrage is sent to Gujarat Engineering and Research Institute (GERI) for analysis. Tenders will be issued by Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) after getting approval from there.
The approval has been given to the estimated cost of Rs 3904 crores for the Tapi riverfront project. A loan from the World bank is planned for the same. Surat Municipal Commissioner Banchhanidhi Pani informed that the NITI Aayog has given approval for the loan of World Bank for this project. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has also given approval.
The estimated cost of Phase-2 will be Rs 2000 crore in which 23 kms area from both sides leading to total 46 kms area from causeway to Gay-Pagla will be developed. DeshGujarat
