Gandhinagar: Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) Vice Chariman Valamjibhai Humbal while speaking at a function in presence of union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel asked governments and Amul board to expedite the process of land allocation for AmulFed’s Rajkot plant.
Humbal said AmulFed is running with 50 lakh liter of overcapacity. He said, ‘we have demanded land in Rajkot and if it can be allotted imidiately, we can start second plant of AmulFed there. If that doesn’t happen, it will be black spot on forehead as we may need to observe milk holiday in Gujarat (no milk collection from milk producers on specific day).’
Humbal requested Gujarat government, the Centre and Amul Board of Directors to see that the process of land allocation completes speedily so that another plant can be set up at Rajkot.
Humbal said the Chief Minister has given a promise that land allocation will be made at earliest.
Humbal thanked State government for assistance of Rs. 450 crore in previous years and added that due to this assistance, the milk producers countrywide earned benefits worth Rs. 20,000 crore.
Humbal said Shri Amit Shah had in previous function of Amul had given a call for Amul model’s implementation in farm sector. Humbai said in one month time, Amul has made great efforts and made a project report. He added that consultants are also appointed for implementation.
