December 29, 2021
Surat: Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has declared a one day strike of textile markets, textile shops, footwear shops, garment factories and related show rooms on 30th December 2021 throughout the country in protest of the 12 percent GST to be implemented from 1st January 2022 on textile and footwear.
The leaders of CAIT had informed in a press note that the merchants of textiles, garments and footwear had decided to peacefully observe a strike on 30th December to maintain their existence as the central government didn’t roll back the notification issued earlier regarding 12 percent GST despite repeated appeals.
The president of FOSTA (federation of Surat textile traders association) Manoj Agarwal and general secretary Champalal Bothra have also appealed to close all the 70 thousand textile shops in Surat on 30th December as part of the strike. The powerloom industry, and dying and processing industry also appealed to join the strike. DeshGujarat
