Gandhinagar: Vijay Suvala, a 27-year old folk singer who also is Bhuvaji of Maldhari community from North Gujarat today joined ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at State party headquarters Shri Kamalam in Gandhinagar in presence of State BJP chief CR Patil. Suvala was the incharge of Aam Admi Party (AAP) for North Gujarat region and one of top six faces of AAP.

Suvala after joining BJP and wearing party’s saffron scarf in his address to media persons said he was returning to his own home. He said his community (Maldhari community) and family was with BJP for thre generations. He said, BJP is considered number one when it comes to party organization. He said, ‘if I want to put aside a stone lying on the road which has 200 kg weight, I would need organization for that, and BJP’s organization is unmatched.’

He said State party chief considers him as his own son.

Speaking in this function, CR Patil said, ‘this is Ghar vapsi of Suvala, as he himself stated. He had met me even before he joined other party. He joined other party and later felt he had taken a wrong step. He was to join BJP today in presence of ten to fifteen thousand supporters but due to covid guidelines, he has joined the party in presence of hundred persons.’

Suvala had distanced from AAP programmes for last some times and later offer resignation citing the reason that he was unable to spare sufficient times for party programmes due to his professional engagements. AAP leader Isudan Gadhavi had held talks with Suvala last week to convince him to continue to work in party.

Suvala however today in his interaction with media persons admired BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and clearly conveyed that he was switching to ruling party. He said, around 2,000 supporters who had joined AAP with him will also leave AAP.

Suvala had joined Aam Admi Party on June 22 last year, a little over six months ago. Along with him, a former Sarpanch Mahipatsinh Chauhan from Central Gujarat had also joined AAP. While Chauhan left AAP around two months ago, Suvala has left the party now after using AAP as a stepping stone and earning name and fame through it.

Meanwhile in a related development, AAP Ahmedabad city vice president Smt Nilamben Vyas also joined BJP today.
