World Bank sanctions $350 million aid for Health Dept’s ‘Shreshtha Gujarat’ project

Gandhinagar: The World Bank has approved a project proposal put forward by the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Gujarat, and sanctioned an aid of $350 million, valuing the project at $500 million.
The project titled “System Reform and Endeavor for Transformed Health Outcomes in Gujarat – Shreshtha Gujarat” has already been approved by the chief minister of the state on 15 December 2021. It was then put before the monetary affairs department of the Finance Ministry which, too, sanctioned it on 30 January 2022.
The ‘Shreshtha Gujarat’ project will be implemented under the able leadership of the chief secretary of Gujarat, Pankajkumar, while additional chief secretary of health department, Manoj Agrawal, will be responsible for proper coordination.
Health Commissioners and Mission Directors will be made to completely focus on the implementation of the ‘Shreshtha Gujarat’ project.
The Health and Family Welfare Department, Finance department, Education department, as well as the women and child development department will chalk out a coordinated action plan for the implementation of the project. DeshGujarat
