Arts college in tribal Umarpada to start offering science, commerce programs
June 12, 2022
Surat: In line with the Prime Minister’s vision to avail best possible education facilities in tribal areas, the state government has allocated Rs 25.58 lakhs to be spent on starting science and commerce streams at a college in Umarpada. The decision was taken in response to the representation made by former education minister Ganpat Vasava before current education minister Jitu Vaghani.
After this, students from Umarpada and surrounding villages will now be admitted in the science and commerce streams at Umarpada.
The science and commerce streams will be offered at the already existing arts college being run by the state government.
Because of the absence of science and commerce college in Umarpada, tribal students from the region had to go as far as Mandvi, Vankal, Bardoli, Surat and even Bharuch to enroll in science or commerce degree programs. DeshGujarat.
