Surat: Jignesh Patil, son of CR Patil, the president of Gujarat unit of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will contest the Senate election of Veer Narmad University. Patil will file candidature on the donor’s seat. He will be a candidate backed by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). This announcement was made by ABVP State unit secretary in Surat along with the names of other candidates belonging to various faculty. However later, when approached Jignesh Patil told media persons that he is not going to contest the senate. He said that he would like to spend more time for activities of Youth for Gujarat and Sports, and he would not like to enter into the active politics of the University.
