Rajkot: Jayram Patel, head of Sidsar Umiya organization of Patel community today told media persons that his community will make demand before political parties to field 75 Patel community candidates in upcoming 182-seat State assembly election in Gujarat.
Patel said – “tickets are given to Patel candidates on about 50 assembly seats in Gujarat conventionally, but there are 25 more assembly seats where Patels are influential if not in majority and they can change the results. The community members including the community leaders like us will propose that Patel candidates are fielded on these 25 seats also.”
Jayram Patel said, the demand will be made to field Patel candidate on Rajkot (West) seat as well. It’s worth noting that Rajkot West is the seat which was previously contested by Vajubhai Vala, Narendrabhai Modi and Vijaybhai Rupani. None of them belongs to Patel community.
