GST officer, CA, other middleman in Ahmedabad nabbed in bribe case by ACB Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Gujarat has booked the state tax officer of the State Tax department in Ahmedabad along with two middlemen including one Chartered Accountant (CA) in a bribe case involving the sum of Rs 35 thousand.
The complainant runs construction business in partnership. His GST number was rejected. He had filed an appeal in this regard through the accused CA Ashish Subhash Agarwal and Kunal Subhash Agarwal for restoration of the GST number before the State Tax department in Ahmedabad.
Later, the accused Ashish and Kunal told him on a phone call that the accused state tax officer from State Tax department, Gaurang Rameshchandra Vasaiya had demanded an amount of Rs 50 thousand as bribe to clear the application favorably. Later, the complainant and accused Ashish met the accused state tax officer in his office. He reduced the bribe amount to Rs 35 thousand after bargaining.
The complainant contacted ACB as he was not willing to pay the bribe. The accused Ashish was found taking a bribe of Rs 35 thousand on behalf of the accused state tax officer during a trap executed by ACB. The accused Ashish and Kunal were found and nabbed by ACB. The accused state tax officer was on a leave and wasn’t present. The legal actions are taken against the three accused. DeshGujarat
