AMC approves construction of two flyovers including the longest flyover of city

Sabarmati: Standing Committee of the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today cleared the proposal for the construction of two flyovers and one underpass in the city. The committee approved Rs. 235 crore Naroda flyover which shall be the longest flyover in the city.
The four-lane overbridge will be 2.5km long and will be built at the cost of Rs 165 crore. The proposed overbridge will connect Naroda Patia and Galaxy Crossroads. The flyover will help reduce congestion at Naroda Patia Y-junction near the old national highway, Devi Cinema, and Galaxy Cinema.
The committee also approved Rs. 107 crore Vadaj junction four-lane flyover bridge and two-lane underpass. Vadaj flyover project includes a 735m flyover from Vadaj junction to Ranip and a 417m underpass between Dhadhichi bridge and Akhbarnagar. The construction is set to last 30 months. AMC will necessitate the traffic diversion plan. The flyover, with a single deck and three spans, will benefit roughly 1.75 lakh commuters, and several traffic islands will be erected at the junction to ease traffic movement. Vadaj junction has the most peak-hour traffic with approximately 417 vehicles per minute.
The meeting approved the Rs. 29 lakh purchase of 10,000-liter firefighting foam. The committee also approved various works worth Rs. 8,196 lakh mainly related to drinking water, stormwater, and drainage.
