Surat police nabs a religious teacher under POCSO for raping kids during Islamic education classes

Surat: The police nabbed a 40-year-old religious teacher, a migrant, Mohammad Mudabbir, who has been accused of repeatedly raping two children over six months after showing them obscene videos. A complaint of rape has been filed against him at the Udhna police station. Mohammad was formerly a cleric working with a Madrasa.
Mudabbir, also known as Mohammad Basirudin Digdhi (Shaikh), resides in Azmi Apartment in Shantinagar, Udhna, but is originally from Godda in Jharkhand. He runs private tuition classes at his home to provide religious education, and around 50 children attend these classes. It is alleged that he showed obscene videos of porn sites on his mobile phone to two 9-year-old children and threatened to beat or kill them if they refused to watch. He then allegedly raped them repeatedly for six months.
The accused also allegedly gave death threats to the children if they shared the abuse with anyone. However, the parents of the children learned about the abuse and filed a complaint with the Udhna police station.
Mudabbir’s wife and daughter live in Jharkhand, while he has been residing in Udhna for several years and running a private Madrassa. He teaches Quran and Urdu to Muslim children through tuition classes. Previously, he worked as a Maulana at the Shantinagar masjid, but he was dismissed from his position six months ago for reasons unknown.
