Khyati hospital held 13 camps across Gujarat; look out notices issued against 4 accused

Ahmedabad: The city-based Khyati Multispeciality Hospital, which has been embroiled in controversy following the death of two PMJAY beneficiaries after unnecessary angioplasty procedures, is reportedly found to have conducted at least 13 medical camps in various villages across Gujarat within a short period. This information came to light as the Ahmedabad Police’s Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) continues its probe into the case. With this new information, the investigation by the State Anti-Fraud Unit (SARU) of Gujarat is likely to widen.

According to the Crime Branch, evidence suggests that the hospital organized these 13 camps rapidly, and records from these earlier camps were recovered during the examination of medical files and documents seized from the hospital. A team of medical experts appointed by the health department is supporting this investigation.

The incident involves the deaths of two individuals, Mahesh Girdhar Barot (52) and Nagar Moti Senma (75), both from Borisana village in Mehsana district, who died after undergoing angioplasty at Khyati Hospital last week.

The Crime Branch has revealed that, in addition to the five accused named in the three FIRs, the involvement of the hospital’s CEO, Rahul Jain, and a marketing manager, Milind Patel, is also suspected, who were detained on Wednesday.

In another update, Look Out Circulars (LDCs) have been issued for the four directors of Khyati Hospital. They are booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, attempting culpable homicide, and defrauding the government and patients’ families by performing surgeries without consent.

The accused directors — Chairman Kartik Jasu Patel, Directors Chirag Hirasingh Rajpur, Rajshree Hadeep Kathari, and Dr. Sanjay Mulji Patolia — have been missing since FIRs were filed on November 13. Dr. Prashant Prakash Vazirani, the visiting cardiologist and the only person arrested so far, will have his custody expire today. DeshGujarat
