April 01, 2023
Vadodara: Vadodara police arrested 23 individuals on Friday and booked a mob of over 500 for rioting and unlawful assembly after stones were thrown at Ram Navami processions organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal on Thursday evening.
After producing the accused in court, the police sought five days of remand for the 23 accused, including six women. The court sent five of them to police custody for five days, while the rest were sent to judicial custody.
Meanwhile, Vadodara Police Commissioner Shamsher Singh established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by DCP Crime to probe the incidents and determine if the stone pelting and unrest were pre-planned. On Friday night, a group of police officers marched through the old city region to resume their search operation. DeshGujarat
