Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation leads public undertakings with highest profit in 2021-22

Gandhinagar: Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) has emerged as the top public undertaking with the highest profit in the state for the financial year 2021-22, with a profit of Rs 1183.73 crore. Following closely behind is Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited (GETCO), which has made a profit of Rs 971.46 crore.

However, the internal debt of the state government has increased, reaching Rs 3.80 lakh crore in the past year, up from Rs 3.57 lakh crore. Despite this, several public undertakings have managed to make impressive profits.

Apart from GSPC and GETCO, other public undertakings that have made a profit of over Rs 100 crore in the state for the financial year 2021-22 include Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation (GMDC), Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Ltd (GSECL), Diamond Research & Mercantile city, State Finance Service ltd, and Madhya Gujarat Vij Company ltd.

On the other hand, there are a few public undertakings that have incurred losses in the same financial year. These include Narmada Nigam, with a loss of Rs 739.32 crore, Textile Nigam with a loss of Rs 300.58 crore, GSRTC with a loss of Rs 173.62 crore, and finance corporation with a loss of Rs 127.81 crore.
