Gujarat Govt supersedes Morbi municipality over bridge collapse
April 12, 2023
Morbi: The Gujarat government on Tuesday superseded the 52-member municipality of Morbi, which had been accused of ignoring warnings that the suspension bridge on the Machu river was in danger of collapsing.
Except for the additional resident collector, Narendra Muchhal, who continues to hold the charge as the chief officer of the municipality, the government has superseded the municipality.
The suspension bridge collapsed six months ago in October 2022, killing 135 people in Morbi. DeshGujarat
