Vibrant Gujarat Summit likely in January 2024 after five-year hiatus

Gandhinagar: The Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS), which is the state government’s flagship investment summit, is likely to be held from January 11-13, 2024 after a five-year gap, said the top sources in the state government.

The last edition of VGGS was held in 2019 before the Covid 19 pandemic hit the world. In VGGS 2019, 28,360 MoUs, including those worth at least Rs 1 lakh crore in the renewable energy sector, were signed.

The state government is preparing for the event, and a final plan to promote VGGS 2024 is being developed, with promotional activities expected to begin in July, a top government official told a newspaper.

The state government has earmarked a budget of Rs 127 crore to promote VGGS 2024, and efforts are being made to encourage participation from major economies, Gulf countries, and African countries.

The regular format of business-to-business meetings, country seminars, and discussions will continue. The state departments are identifying core focus areas to promote investments during the summit, fine-tuning policies, and identifying whether additional measures or amendments to policies are necessary to make the state investment friendly.
