Gujarat CM’s son airlifted to Mumbai for Brain Stroke treatment

Gandhinagar: Anuj Patel (37), son of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has been airlifted to Mumbai where he will undergo an operative procedure at Mumbai-based P. D. Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre after he suffered a brain stroke yesterday. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is accompanying his only son Anuj in Mumbai.

Anuj will remain in the ICU of Hinduja Hospital after his surgery till further recovery, said the Medical bulletin from the hospital.


The Chief Minister has skipped the Gujarat Day functions in Jamnagar due to the poor health condition of his son. The State level functions to mark the Statehood Day of Gujarat in Jamnagar are now taking place in the presence of Governor Acharya Devvrat.

Anuj suffered a brain stroke at his residence on Sunday in Ahmedabad in the presence of his father Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel yesterday after Bhupendrabhai attended a function to mark the 100th episode of Mann Ki Baat in the Shilaj area of Ahmedabad and returned to his private residence which is located in the same area. He was taken to the private-run KD hospital on Sarkhej – Gandhinagar highway in Ahmedabad at 2.45 pm for emergency treatment.

The doctors performed surgery on Anuj Patel which reportedly went on for two hours. According to Parth Desai, the Chief Operating Officer of KD Hospital, Anuj Patel’s health condition was stable and he was under the supervision of expert doctors.

It is learnt that Mumbai-based Hinduja Hospital’s senior neurosurgeon Dr. BK Mishra was called for treatment of Anuj yesterday.
