Ahmedabad: A trustee of a Udgam School for Children in Thaltej has filed a complaint with the city crime branch against the self-styled ‘journalist’ Ashish Kanjaria, accusing him of attempting to extort money from the school since 2019.

The trustee, Manan Choksi, stated that Kanjaria had sent him a message in 2019, claiming to be a well-wisher who wanted to meet him. However, Choksi refused to meet him and asked Kanjaria to speak to his PR consultant. Later, Kanjaria demanded that Choksi give admission to certain children or pay Rs 6 lakh to him. He threatened to run fake news videos against the school if Choksi did not comply. Kanjaria also harassed the school authorities by filing fake applications against the school with the state education department.

This is the second complaint against the operator of a YouTube channel called “Pol Khol TV in a week. Last week, Sanjay Singh, trustee of Edunova School in Maninagar had also filed a complaint against Kanjaria for extortion. The city crime branch has registered Choksi’s complaint under IPC Sections 384 and 389 against Kanjaria and is investigating other potential victims. DeshGujarat
