First phase of outer ring road in Surat 98% complete; Likely to open in June

Surat: The work of the first phase of the outer ring road of the Surat Urban Development Authority (SUDA) is 98 percent complete.
Expected to be dedicated in June, the first phase spans 13 km and costs Rs 486 crore. The work from Variav junction to Kosad village, Bharthana village to Abrama road, and Saniya Hemad village to Surat Kadodara road is 98 percent finished.
The section from the Y junction of Gathpur Road to Saniya Hemad village is 95 percent complete. The construction of a bridge on the Tapi River from Abrama Road to Valak is 98 percent complete. The progress on the railway overbridge and flyover stands at 35 percent.
The distance between Abrama and Valak will decrease to 1.3 km from 7 km due to the outer ring road. The second phase, estimated at Rs 387 crore, will commence soon. The outer ring road will provide connectivity to over 11 villages, state highways, and national highways. DeshGujarat
