Hyderabad residents held by Gujarat ATS to become witnesses in ISKP module case
July 04, 2023
Ahmedabad: Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) officers have announced that a man and a woman from Hyderabad will be appointed as witnesses in the case concerning the dismantling of an Islamic State of Khorasan Province (ISKP) module.
The individuals were brought to the ATS headquarters in Chharodi, Gujarat, on June 29 for questioning regarding their connections with Sumerabanu Malek, an accused woman from Surat. While no evidence of their involvement in radical activities was found, their knowledge of Malek and the ISKP module qualifies them as potential witnesses in the case.
Earlier, on June 9, the ATS had apprehended three men and Malek for their association with the UN-designated terrorist organization. The arrestees included Ubed Nasir Mir, Hanan Hayat Shol, Mohammad Hajim Shah from Srinagar, who were apprehended in Porbandar, along with Malek in Surat. Another individual, Zubair Ahmed Munshi from Srinagar, was arrested on June 12 as the fifth accused.
A First Information Report (FIR) was registered against the five accused apprehended by the Gujarat ATS under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). DeshGujarat
