US Treasury Secretary and World Bank President laud ‘Vidya Samiksha Kendra’ of Gujarat

Gandhinagar: World Bank President Ajay Banga expressed the need to replicate the ‘Control and Command Centre’ or ‘Vidya Samiksha Kendra’ in Gandhinagar as a leadership model not just within India but globally.

Banga, accompanied by US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, visited the centre, which collects and analyzes academic and administrative data from millions of students, teachers, and schools across Gujarat.

Secretary Yellen emphasized the significance of education in breaking the poverty cycle and promoting sustainable development, praising the centre as an example of effective project design and innovation.

Banga stressed the importance of replicating successful ideas nationwide and internationally, particularly in countries with a large youth population like India. He also stated his plans to discuss the centre’s potential expansion with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an upcoming meeting in New Delhi.

The successful implementation of the project has prompted the government to consider replicating it in other states, aiming to improve attendance, reduce school congestion, and enhance student-teacher ratios. The project is a collaborative effort between the Union government, the World Bank, and the Gujarat government. DeshGujarat
