Gandhinagar: Retired IAS officer, S K Langa, was sent to judicial custody by a court here on Monday after the second extension of his custodial interrogation came to an end.
Langa is facing allegations of criminal misconduct as a public servant, corruption, causing financial loss to the exchequer, and possessing disproportionate assets. He was arrested by the Gandhinagar Police from a bungalow belonging to a late former Congress MP in Mount Abu. The FIR was registered against him on May 17. He is accused of misusing his quasi-judicial powers and making orders that led to losses for the government during his tenure as Gandhinagar district collector from April 2018 to September 2019.
During his custody, investigators thoroughly examined Langa’s diaries and questioned his subordinates and intermediaries. The police also investigated his decisions related to granting sand mining leases and permissions for gun licenses. Additionally, the investigator informed the court that Langa’s family members and business partners had already fled the country and were unavailable for questioning. DeshGujarat
