Ahmedabad: The Gandhinagar police have registered a another corruption complaint against Retired IAS officer S K Langa in a highly contested land scandal valued at Rs 1,000 crore in Mulasana village of Kalol here.
Gemini Gadhia, the Kalol mamlatdar, filed an FIR with Santej police in Gandhinagar, accusing former Gandhinagar collector S K Langa of intentionally diverting land initially designated for a cow shelter for commercial purposes.
As per complaint, the land in Mulasana, leased for 99 years in 1951-52 to a panjrapol organization, is still owned by the organization according to revenue records. Allegedly, the organization obtained an exemption certificate under Section 88(b) of the Gujarat Tenancy and Agriculture Land Act and added 23 heirs’ names to the records illegally. Subsequently, the land changed ownership multiple times and was eventually used for commercial activities.
The FIR stated that Langa authorized non-agricultural use of the land between April 6, 2018, and September 30, 2019, during his tenure as Gandhinagar collector. It alleged that Langa intentionally issued favorable orders to derive financial benefits, resulting in significant financial losses for the government.
Santej police have filed a complaint under IPC sections 409 (criminal breach of trust by a public servant), 217 (public servant disobeying the law with the intent to save a person from punishment or property from forfeiture), and 218 (public servant creating incorrect records or documents with the intent to save a person from punishment or property from forfeiture).
On July 11, Langa was arrested near Abu Road approximately two months after an FIR was filed against him on May 17 by Sector 7 police in Gandhinagar in corruption related cases.
