SOG nabs Juhapura woman for selling mephedrone

Ahmedabad: The Special Operations Group (SOG) apprehended a 43-year-old woman from Vejalpur on Monday for allegedly possessing and selling mephedrone.

SOG officers of the Ahmedabad crime branch received a tip-off indicating that Shamimbano Shaikh, residing in Yash Complex near Jivraj Park in Vejalpur, was involved in selling mephedrone from her residence. Acting on the information, the police conducted a raid on her house and discovered a stash of mephedrone. The police confiscated 103.9 grams of mephedrone, which they estimated to be worth Rs 10.45 lakh, and charged her under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The SOG officers stated that Shaikh’s source of income was previously from tailoring clothes, but she had recently begun selling mephedrone. The police are currently investigating the origin of the mephedrone and whether there were any other individuals involved in drug trafficking with her.
