After uproar, Salangpur Mandir covers controversial murals in which Hanuman ji was shown as bhakt of Sahajanand Swami

Sarangpur: After a controversy over depiction of figures showing Bhagwan Hanuman bowing down to Sahajanand Swamy of Swaminarayan sect, the Swaminarayan sect has concealed the figures from public eyesight here.

Hanumanji is ancient God of Hindu faith, while Sahajanand Swami happened between AD 1781 to 1830.There was an uproar over social media platforms over depiction of Hanuman ji bowing down to Sahajand Swami in two carved murals on the platform of ‘King of Sarangpur’ idol of Hanumanji at Kashtabhanjan Dev Hanumanji Mandir in Sarangpur recently.

Following this, Akhil Bharatiya Navyug Sanstha Hindu Yuva Vahini’s Gujarat unit chier Rajbha Gadhvi had demanded removal of this depiction.

He had stated that such distorting projection would make people believe in future that Hanumanji was not bhakt of Shri Ram but he was a bhakt of some Swami of some sampraday(sect). He further stated that this is an insult of Sanatan dharma.

It’s worth noting that various branches of Swaminarayan sect have faced criticism time and again for distorting Hindu sanatan faith and depiction of Hindu Gods and Goddesses as dasa of Sahajanand Swami, whom the followers of Swaminarayan sect call Bhagwan Swaminarayan.

Depiction of Hanuman as bhakta of Sahajanand Swami has been spotted on one of the carved mural on the platform on which a tall idol of Hanuman ji is placed by Vadtal branch of Swaminarayan sect. The statue has been designed under the guidance of Gyanjeevandas Swami. Shastri Hariprakashdas Swami has named the project ‘King of Salangpur’. The giant statue of Lord Hanuman is fifty four metre high. Its unveiling took place in the presence of union Home minister Amitbhai Shah earlier this year, however the controversial murals were noticed just recently.

The Swaminarayan sect sadhus have after this controversy, covered the controversial murals. DeshGujarat
