Stray cattle attack: 55-year-old woman severely injured, critical in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: In yet another grievous incident involving the menace of stray cattle, a 55-year-old woman was attacked by stray cows in the Naroda area on Monday evening. The victim has sustained severe injuries and is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital.
The incident took place near Navrang Flat in the Naroda area of the city, where a woman named Varshaben Panchal was walking on the Parvati Jadav Hospital road and was going to the temple. The CCTV footage of the incident shows that while passing on the road, the woman noticed several stray cows and attempted to run in the opposite direction to save herself. However, she lost her balance and fell, after which she was attacked by one of the cows. As the cow continued to attack the woman, nearby locals came to her rescue. The CCTV footage also reveals that there were 7-8 stray cattle in the lane, all of which caused chaos when people attempted to save the woman.

The victim is in critical condition with severe damage to her lungs, mouth, and food pipe. She has sustained broken ribs and is currently being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Shalby Hospital in Naroda. The victim’s family has stated that the lane through which the victim was passing is consistently occupied by stray cattle. Despite numerous complaints, the authorities have not taken any measures to address the problem.
Suresh Panchal, the spouse of the victim, has lodged a complaint at Naroda Police Station. An FIR has been registered against unknown individuals under Section 338 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to causing serious harm through actions that endanger the lives or safety of others. The Police are investigating the CCTV footage to find the person who may have left the cattle on the road.
It has been reported that the Cattle Nuisance Control Department (CNCD) of the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) impounded a total of 1181 stray cattle in August of this year. Among these, 96 animals were released after fines were imposed, amounting to over Rs. 5 lakh in total fines. DeshGujarat
