Sabarmati: Pratibha Jain has become a new Mayor of Ahmedabad city. Jatin patel has been elected as her deputy. She is senior councilor from Shahibaug ward. Devang Dani has been appointed as Chairman of the Standing Committee of Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC). Gaurang Prajapati has been made leader of ruling party.

Pratibhaben, Jatinbhai and Devangbhai are all three-term senior councilors and their experience, seniority wise and as chairman of respective committees has been taken into consideration while selecting them for the posts. Gaurangbhai Prajapati is engineer by education.

The names were decided by ruling BJP’s state parliamentary board in a series of meetings in Gandhinagar last week. The new office bearers shall be on these posts for two and half years after the previous term of elected office bearers ended. The post of the Mayor was reserved for this term for a woman councilor.
