Gujarat completes 86% of average monsoon rainfall

Gandhinagar: During the dry spell in August, the state of Gujarat only received an average of 25.49 mm of rain last month. As the monsoon picks up the pace this month, let’s take a look at the average rainfall received by Gujarat so far in this monsoon season.

The zone-wise rainfall data reports, while providing a wholesome picture of monsoon activity, suggest that the state has received 86.25% of the normal average monsoon season rainfall so far this year. As of 6 a.m. today, the total rainfall in the state amounted to 756.06 mm.

In terms of regions, Kutch has recorded the highest percentage of rainfall, achieving 136.69% of the total monsoon average, followed by Saurashtra with 110.71% of the average monsoon rainfall. On the other hand, the North Gujarat region has seen the lowest percentage of rainfall, with only 71.08% completed so far. The South Gujarat and East Central regions have achieved  81.09% and 72.20% of the average monsoon rainfall, respectively.

Among the districts, Junagadh has experienced the highest percentage of rainfall, reaching 153.42% of the total monsoon average, followed by Kutch at 136.69% and Gir Somnath at 132.41%. On the contrary, the district with the lowest percentage of rainfall so far is Dahod, with only 57.86% of the total monsoon average.

Among the talukas, Detroj taluka in Ahmedabad district has received the lowest percentage of rainfall, at 36.24% of the total monsoon average. Conversely, Anjar taluka in Kutch has reported the highest percentage of rainfall at 211.17%.

The cumulative rainfall completed in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, and Rajkot districts so far stands at 62.51 %, 76.80 %, 61.95 %, and 114.87%, respectively. DeshGujarat
