Gujarat forest department bans plantation of Conocarpus trees

Gandhinagar: Chief Forest Conservator of Gujarat who heads the forest force across the State has through an order prohibited plantation of Conocarpus tree as this species go deep into the ground and grows too much to damage the communication cables, drainage lines and drinking water pipelines.

A letter banning plantation of this tree further informs that flowering in this tree takes place in Winter and the particles spreading from it causes cold, coughing , asthma, allergy etc harms to human beings nearby.

The forest department has therefore banned plantation of this species of trees in nurseries, forest area, revenue area and elsewhere and asked the department to create awareness against this tree and the harms it causes. DeshGujarat
