Tamil Nadu cadre IPS Deepak Damor appointed IG of BSF Gujarat Frontier

Gandhinagar: Tamil Nadu cadre 2001 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Deepak M Damor has been appointed as the Inspector General of India’s Border Security Force (BSF) for the Gujarat frontier.
The Bordermen of Gujarat Ftr have been effectively dominating 826 Kms of the International Border with Pakistan from BP No. 780, in Barmer (Rajasthan) to Sir Mouth and 85 Kms of the Coastal border from Medi to Jakhau. The Frontier has a unique distinction of encompassing three distinct types of terrain i.e. the great Thar Desert and the undulating sand dunes of Barmer, vast expanses of salty marshlands of Rann of Kutch, and the serpentine treacherous Creeks.
Gujarat is Damor’s home state as he hails from tribals populated Dahod district. Damor was previously the Inspector General of the National Crime Records Bureau. Damor has also served in Gujarat as an officer of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the past. He had been Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore city in Tamil Nadu. He was also IG Central zone in Tamil Nadu police.
