Hydrogen fuel: Greenzo Energy to manufacture electrolyzers at Sanand, Gujarat

Sanand: In a way ahead for green hydrogen production in India, Greenzo Energy India Limited announced its plan to manufacture electrolyzers required for this purpose within the next five months. A groundbreaking ceremony for the facility in Sanand is scheduled for October 24, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah as the chief guest.

Sandeep Agarwal, the Founder and Managing Director of Greenzo Energy, emphasized their commitment to phase out thermal energy within seven years. They have already initiated orders to replace current infrastructure. The electricity generated from green hydrogen will be utilized to power electric vehicles, combustion engines, and even turbines.

The company is investing Rs 100 crore in the first phase to establish a 250 MW electrolyzer plant annually in Sanand, with orders totaling Rs 1,100 crore already in place. Agarwal highlighted the significant growth potential in the domestic electrolyzer market, noting that there is currently no indigenous manufacturing of these devices. The Sanand plant will be the first of its kind, catering to the increasing demand for green hydrogen, which is considered the future of renewable fuel.

Agarwal also pointed out the limitations of solar energy, particularly the need for batteries with a limited 12-year lifespan for nighttime energy storage. In contrast, green hydrogen can be stored underground for up to 400 years, offering a more efficient and sustainable energy solution. DeshGujarat
