Yadubir Singh Rawat appointed as DG of ASI ; Dholavira, Vadnagar among his excavations

New Delhi: Former Director of the Directorate of Archaeology and Museums, Government of Gujarat, Shri Yadubir Singh Rawat, a senior archaeologist, has been appointed as the Director General (DG) of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

Shri Rawat who hails from Uttarakhand has been living in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. He has worked at the excavation of Dholavira in Kutch, Vadnagar in North Gujarat, and other important sites. He is especially known for his excavations at Vadodara under then Chief Minister Narendra Modi-led government in Gujarat. Vadnagar is also the native town of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Shr Rawat has been appointed as DG ASI on a contract basis for three years. The decision on his appointment has been taken by the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet. DeshGujarat
