Light and Sound Show to be unveiled in Rann of Kutch on December 26th

Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is set to unveil a permanent light and sound show at the White Rann watchtower on December 26th. Against the enchanting backdrop of the white desert, the show will depict the rich history and culture of Kutch through village-themed decorations. The unveiling event is scheduled for 5 pm on Tuesday.

The light & sound show has been readied for a total cost of Rs. 7.29 crore. Its length is 18 minutes. It will be shown daily twice in the evening. 250 persons will be able to watch it in one go.

The light & sound show covers the land of Kutch, the Rann of Kutch, the battlefield Kutch, white Rann, Harappa civilization town Dholavira, Lakhpat-based Baudh caves, Koteshwar Mahadev, Narayan Sarovar, Zara war, Madhapar’s brave women, a forest of Kutch, handicraft of Kutch, the bravery of Kutch, the year 2001 earthquake, Smriti Vann, world’s largest renewable energy park, Kutch’s history, and culture.

In addition to this, a series of cultural programs centered around the theme ‘Kachdo Khel Khalkam’ are planned. A theme pavilion will host daily cultural activities, craft stalls, a food and beverage bazaar, a creative food zone, and various adventure activities.

The internationally renowned Ranotsav in Dhordo, Kutch, initiated by the former Chief Minister Narendra Modi, has not only gained global acclaim but has also revitalized Kutch’s economy. In the fiscal year 2022-23, 3.5 lakh tourists explored the White Desert, and this year, approximately two and a half lakh tourists have already visited.

Tourists can currently explore historical places such as Dholavira, Smritivan, Regional Science Center, and Bhuj in Kutch. The development of tourism in the White Rann has opened up new employment opportunities for locals across various sectors. Kutchi embroidery and handicrafts, celebrated both domestically and internationally, thrive in the global market through Ranotsav, offering local artists a platform to showcase their exceptional artifacts.

In a recent accolade, Dhordo in Kutch was recognized among the world’s best tourist villages. During the ‘Best Tourism Village-2023’ award ceremony organized by UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organization) in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, on October 19, Dhordo stood out as the sole representative from India and was honored with the prestigious ‘Best Tourism Village’ award.
