Locals demand implementation of Disturbed Areas Act in Patan
February 10, 2024
Patan: The residents of Sagota Sheri today submitted a memorandum at Police Headquarters here, urging the implementation of the Disturbed Areas Act in Patan.
The residents demand that the Disturbed Areas Act be implemented in the area to prevent the sale of houses to minority community members. Locals had made this demand a year ago as well.
Under the Disturbed Areas (DA) Act, a District Collector can designate a specific area within a city or town as a ‘disturbed area.’ After this, the transfer of immovable property in the disturbed area can only occur after the Collector explicitly approves an application submitted by the buyer and the seller of the property. In the application, the seller must attach an affidavit stating that they have sold the property of their own free will and have received a fair market price. DeshGujarat
