Gujarat Assembly passes Co-Operative Societies (Amendment ) Bill 2024

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government on Thursday moved and passed The Gujarat Co-Operative Societies (Amendment) Bill, 2024 in the State assembly. The bill was passed unopposed. It amends the Gujarat Co-Operative Societies Act, of 1961. The bill has a provision to fix a ceiling on transfer fees charged by societies for sell of the plot/property. There’s no clarity on the amount of transfer fee in the bill. The rules about this will be notified later. The bill also provisions a requirement of 8 persons for registration of the Housing Society instead of the current requirement of 10. The bill can be accessed here.
