Verai Mata idol vandalized, thrown into pond; outrage in Karjan village

Vadodara: The idol of Mataji from the Verai Mata temple in Kanabha Village, Karjan Taluka, was vandalized and thrown into a lake by some anti-social elements. This act has deeply hurt the religious sentiments of devotees, sparking widespread anger against those responsible. In response to the incident, a gathering occurred outside the Verai Mata temple, where efforts to locate Mataji’s statue were initiated.
The incident occurred on Sunday between 2 and 3 am in the night, after a large number of people were invited to a wedding ceremony at a residence in Kanbha village. However, in the night, certain anti-social elements vandalized and stole the idol of Mataji from the Verai Mata temple.
A local leader expressed that when a woman visited the Verai Mata temple, she found that the idol was missing, and there were some broken pieces from it. Urging the police to take decisive action, the leader called for the arrest and legal proceedings against the culprits, emphasizing the emotional impact on the community.
Karajan Police Station P.I. A. K. Bharwad stated that following the incident, where the idol of Verai Mata was broken and thrown into the lake, a complaint has been registered, and efforts to apprehend the suspects are underway.
