Fire breaks out in Khwaja Flat in Danilimda; 1 dead, 8 injured

Ahmedabad: A fire broke out in Khwaja Flats in the Danilimda area of the city this morning. The fire spread from the parking lot to the second floor, causing a rush among the flat’s residents. People hurried to evacuate as the fire extended from the stairs, resulting in the burning of nine individuals, including a 15-day-old child. They were promptly shifted to LG Hospital for treatment, but the infant did not survive. The remaining eight people are currently under medical care.

According to information from the fire brigade, the control room received a message around 06:15 this morning about a fire in Khwaja’s flat in the Patel Vas village of Danilimda. Two fire trucks from the Jamalpur fire station were immediately dispatched. By the time the fire brigade personnel arrived, the fire had already spread to the second floor via the stairs. The team quickly controlled the fire using water cannons, and more than 27 people residing in the flat were rescued and brought to safety.

The incident reportedly occurred after a meter in the parking area caught fire, which also destroyed vehicles, including an Activa and a bicycle. The narrow space in which the flat was located facilitated the rapid spread of the fire. When the flames reached the flat’s entrance, local residents rushed to evacuate.

Dr. Leena Dabhi, Superintendent of LG Hospital in Maninagar, informed the media that the 15-day-old girl lost her life in the early morning fire at Khwaja’s flat in the Danilimda area. Eight people sustained injuries, with two individuals suffering severe burns, while others were affected by smoke. They are all receiving treatment in the hospital. DeshGujarat
