Gandhinagar: Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has declared 7 more Lok Sabha candidates today in Gujarat.

One of the new names in this list is Mukesh Dalal a candidate for Surat Lok Sabha seat.

Mukesh Dalal is the Surat City BJP general secretary and SDCA committee member. He is the former Standing Committee Chairman of Surat Municipal Corporation(SMC).

Dalal had previously worked at the State level in Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. He was the city executive member of BJP, a 3-term councilor in SMC,  5-term standing committee chairman. He has been general secretary of the city BJP for over 3 years.

Mukesh Dalal hails from Modh Vanik community. He is former chairman of The Surat Peoples Cooperative Bank Ltd. Dalal is considered close to Gujarat BJP chief and Navsari MP CR Patil. He is bachelor of commerce and LLB, MBA(Finance) by education. He is active in BJP since 1981. He was a councilor in SMC for three terms from Adajan-Pal-Palanpor area during 2005 to 2020.
