Police nab one who put up posters against Ranjanben Bhatt; he turns out to be Congress office bearer

Vadodara: The Crime Branch detained an individual today for hanging posters against the BJP Lok Sabha candidate from the Vadodara constituency, Ranjanben Bhatt who is also the incumbent MP from the seat. Several posters were put up in the night and the media was informed about them in the morning. Subsequently, the local news channel started covering the news. However, police came into the action and checked CCTV footage of the areas, through which a person belonging to the main opposition Congress party was nabbed.

A person who put up posters was nabbed after he was identified in CCTV footage videos checked by police.  The accused turned out to be a Youth Congress office bearer, Harry Ode. Police is probing whether Harry was a tool and working for some mastermind. The posters put up by Harry were made in such a fashion that one would draw the impression that there’s infighting in the BJP over the selection of Ranjanben Bhatt as a candidate. However with the revelation of Congress worker Harry Ode’s role, now Congress party is now under scanner.

Harry’s family and Congress workers meanwhile created a ruckus over the apprehension of Harry. Harry is the working president of the Youth Congress.

Meanwhile, city Congress Secretary Dhrumit Vasava’s name has also come to light during the police questioning. The accused is being held in Varasiya Police Station for the investigation.

Police earlier during the scanning of CCTV camera footage found that two persons were leaving a Maruti Eco car and putting up posters against the sitting Lok Sabha MP. The posters read, “No animosity with Modi but Ranjan will not be spared,” and another one stated, “Will ‘BJP’, intoxicated by power, bring anyone down? The people of Vadodara are helpless because they love Modi.”

These posters were displayed in various societies in the Karelibaug area, such as Sangam, Gandhi Park, and Jagruti Park Societies. The police are investigating the matter to identify other individuals involved.

Ever since she got a Lok Sabha ticket of BJP for the third time, Ranjanben Bhatt has been facing a smear campaign. It started with corruption and other vague allegations by the party’s national office bearer Dr. Jyotiben Pandya who was suspended by the party. Jyotiben was upset about not getting a ticket. Then the video of an individual was made viral in which he was complaining against Ranjanben as if he was a party cadre. However, Ranjanben clarified that the person in the video was not a BJP cadre. For the past two to three days, news stories have been floated in the media that the party would rethink Ranjanben’s candidature and change the candidate. Putting up the poster and managing media coverage of the same was another ploy against Ranjanben in the latest. The posters were put up to show infighting within the BJP, but when probed into it, the persons behind these posters turned out to be Congress office bearers.
