Congress declares 11 more Lok Sabha candidates in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: The main opposition Congress party today declared a few more candidates in Gujarat for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The party has fielded former Sidhpur MLA Chandanji Thakor on the Patan seat.

Khedbrahma MLA Dr. Tushar Chaudhary has been selected for candidature on the Sabarkantha seat.

Former Kapadvanj MLA Kalusinh Dabhi will be contesting on Kheda Lok Sabha seat against Union Minister Devusinh Chauhan.

Lunawada MLA Gulabsinh Chauhan will contest on Panchmahal Lok Sabha seat.

Former Dahod MP, Dr. Prabhaben Taviyad is selected for candidature on the Dahod seat which is reserved for Tribal candidates.

The party has finally found a candidate for the Surat Lok Sabha seat. Nilesh Kumbhani, a former councilor will contest the Surat seat.

Jeniben Thumar, president of Gujarat Congress’s women wing, who is also a former president of the district panchayat will contest the Amreli seat. She is the daughter of former Amreli MP Virji Thumar.

Leader of opposition in the State Assembly and Anklaw MLA Amit Chavda, who is also a former president of Gujarat Congress, will contest the Anand Lok Sabha seat. He is MLA of this seat for five terms.

Sonal Patel has been picked up by the party for the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat as a candidate. She will contest against Union Home Minister Amitbhai Shah. An architect by profession, she is secretary of AICC and former president of the Women’s Congress.

JP Marvia, a member of district panchayat will contest against BJP’s incumbent MP Poonamben Madam on the Jamnagar seat.

The party has fielded Sukhram Rathwa for the Chhota Udepur Lok Sabha seat. He is a former MLA and former leader of the opposition in the State assembly. DeshGujarat
