Rs. 20 crore cardiac care center to come up at Gandhinagar Civil Hospital
March 23, 2024
Gandhinagar: A cardiac care center will be established at Gandhinagar Civil Hospital, at an estimated cost of Rs 20 crores, to provide treatment and diagnostic facilities for heart patients. The center, which will be set up and fully managed by UN Mehta Hospital, will boast advanced facilities for angiography, and angioplasty, as well as operation theaters and laboratories.
Following the post-corona period, there has been a surge in heart attack cases, yet Gandhinagar Civil Hospital lacks adequate facilities for heart disease treatment. Consequently, heart patients are referred to UN Mehta Hospital in Ahmedabad after receiving primary treatment. Despite the presence of a medical college in Gandhinagar for a decade, the absence of heart treatment facilities necessitates the establishment of a cardiac care center within Gandhinagar Civil Hospital, managed by the Gujarat Medical Education and Research Society.
The center will be situated in the E Block of the Civil Hospital, where a team from UN Mehta Hospital has conducted an assessment to facilitate maintenance and other necessary works. This facility will house amenities for angiography, angioplasty, and operation theaters for cardiac procedures, along with a dedicated laboratory for heart-related testing. The cardiac care center is scheduled to commence operations within the next ten months.
According to sources from the health department, the cardiac care center in E-Block of Civil Hospital is expected to incur costs of around Rs 20 crores, covering the acquisition of advanced machinery for angiography, angioplasty, and operation theaters. DeshGujarat
