Ahmedabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat nabbed a police constable of Bavla Police Station in Ahmedabad Rural area on Thursday in connection with a bribery case involving Rs. 15,000.
According to the details of the case, the complainant was found with two bottles of liquor. In order to avoid a case under the Prohibition Act, the accused, Jitendrakumar Chauhan, who is posted as a Head Constable at Bavla Police Station in the Ahmedabad Rural area, demanded Rs. 20,000. However, the bribe amount was later reduced to Rs. 15,000 as the complainant did not have Rs. 20,000.
Since the complainant was unwilling to pay the bribe, he contacted the ACB. Later, in a trap set up by the ACB sleuths, the accused was caught red-handed when he accepted Rs. 12,000 and returned Rs. 3,000 to the complainant at the main gate of Bavla Police lines. DeshGujarat
