Porbandar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today nabbed an Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector (Class 3) working at the RTO Office in the city in a bribery case involving Rs. 5,000.
The complainant in this case operates a PUC center. A vehicle repassing camp was organized by the Porbandar RTO office on 28/03/2024 at Singaria village. The complainant attended the camp along with the owners of vehicles to obtain fitness certificates for 12 different vehicles of his customers. At that time, the accused, Samat Khimabhai Kodiyatar, posted as Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector at the RTO Office, Porbandar, demanded a bribe of Rs. 15,700 to repass the vehicles. He took Rs. 10,700 at that time and said that he would only provide the vehicle fitness certificate after receiving the remaining Rs. 5,000.
As the complainant was unwilling to pay the bribe, he contacted the ACB. Later, the ACB set up a bribe trap and caught the accused red-handed when he demanded and accepted the bribe. DeshGujarat
